'Dogs did not require medical treatment and were sent for rehoming'

Gardaí investigating suspected animal welfare offences that occurred in Kilnaleck in July, 2021, have set a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

At the time, dogs were seized from Fianna Fáil councillor Craig Lovett’s father who claimed full ownership of the animals.

They were subsequently taken by Cavan's dog warden to the local pound and assessed by a vet.

The dogs did not require medical treatment and were sent for rehoming as investigations continued into the matter.

Meanwhile, Gardai confirmed to Northern Sound this morning that those investigations are ongoing.
