That's the message for National Fire Safety Week, and this year's theme is "Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives".

As we return to work and education, people are being reminded of the need to avoid complacency around fire safety.

Siobhan McKenna is the Senior Assistant Chief Fire Officer in Co Monaghan.

30 house fires occur in Co Monaghan each year, and speaking to Northern Sound, Siobhan explained how people in the county can avail of free smoke alarms:
