First 'Let's Play' event in Co Monaghan celebrates 'the process over the end product'

Children of all ages were able to take part arts & crafts, sensory play, den building and lots more.

The National Childhood Network has held its first "Let's Play" event in Co Monaghan that celebrates "the process over the end product".

Funded partly through the Lego Foundation, and delivered in partnership with PlayBoard NI, the first of three events took place today in the Oriel Park playground.

The other two events will be held in Carrickmacross and Castleblayney at a later date.

Children of all ages were able to take part arts & crafts, sensory play, den building and lots more to support children and families to play more.

The aim of the events are to raise awareness of the importance of play within school age settings and to enhance children's and young people's access to quality play opportunities.

Michelle McGee is based in the NCN office in Monaghan, and told Northern Sound that the play is child-led and more about "creativity and imagination" than the end product:
