The first track has been laid at the Belturbet Railway Station.
The work is part of a project co-ordinated by a local group which hopes to run trains along a short section near the town.
The first phase will see 100 metres of track laid, with another two 500 metre sections to link into it.

The station is already operated as a museum and it's hoped to run trains on the track to add to the visitor experience.
The narrow gauge track arrived from Bord na Móna on Monday and the first sections were laid yesterday.
