Former Cavan Superintendent appointed to Garda National Community Engagement Bureau

It is one of a number of changes made to senior Gardaí assignments in the region.

Former Superintendent at Cavan Garda Station Padraic Jones been appointed chief Superintendent at the Garda National Community Engagement Bureau.

The Bureau, which is based in Dublin, focuses on developing and implementing strategies around community policing in both urban and rural settings.

The announcement was made during a recent Joint Policing Committee meeting in Cavan and confirmed yesterday by An Garda Siochana.

The chief superintendent's new role will take effect from the 17th of October next.

Former Superintendent Jones is originally from Co Longford and served as a Garda and Inspector in the Longford/Roscommon division before being promoted to superintendent at Cavan Garda Station in 2020.

And from October 20th, recently promoted Superintendent John Grant will be assigned to the Cavan Garda District.

While Chief Superintendent Sean Colleran will now be based at Monaghan Garda Station after being assigned Regional Chief Superintendent for the North West Region.
