The Minister of State for Heritage and Electoral Reform, has announced over €1.4 million in funding for Local Authorities, including Cavan and Monaghan to carry out biodiversity projects through the Local Biodiversity Action Fund.
A total of almost €48,000 has been granted towards five different projects across county Cavan.
Meanwhile, €47,800 has been granted towards across a total of three projects in County Monaghan.

According to Minister Malcolm Noonan, the funding will go towards restoration, invasive species management, surveys, education and awareness projects:

| Monaghan | Wetland Survey | This two-year project will identify wetlands from the Monaghan Wetland Database of 711 sites, on which conservation works to improve biodiversity outcomes and climate mitigation/adaptation can be undertaken, in order to prioritise conservation effort and expenditure. | €25,550 |
