Last month, Enterprise Ireland had further discussions with the owners of Carrickmacross factory, who are based in China.
That's according to the Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, Peter Burke.
He was responding to a parliamentary question from local TD, Matt Carthy.
Deputy Carthy asked the Minister for an update on the Bose Factory in Carrickmacross, and the steps being taken to encourage prospective new owners to establish a business at the facility.
Over a number of years, the owners of the factory sought to establish themselves as an infant formula and nutritional powders manufacturer.
In March 2025, the company informed Enterprise Ireland that the business was no longer viable in Ireland, due to inflationary pressures and market conditions.
As a result, the owners of the factory decided to sell the plant, and appoint an Irish agent to support the sale process.
Minister Burke said that Enterprise Ireland is actively seeking interest from potential purchasers of the facility.
He added that discussions have taken place with a number of interested parties.
According to the Minister, efforts are ongoing to liaise with the company to support efforts to secure a buyer for the site "as a priority".
Speaking to Northern Sound this afternoon, Deputy Carthy outlined the difficulties with the situation.
He said: "The first problem is that there is a serious lack of transparency, in terms of the situation and cases that followed from 2019.
"We had much fan fare, ribbon cutting, we had photo opportunities from Ministers who were taking credit for bringing them 60 jobs that never materialised.
"Since then, it has been almost impossible to get any clear answers. Despite the fact that we were raising questions with the Department and Ministers at different stages.
"Ministers were saying, 'this is only a delay, this will happen'. Now we know that the activity we were hoping to see, isn't going to happen," Deputy Carthy added.
