Gardaí will be out in force this bank holiday weekend, testing drivers for alcohol and drug consumption.
Over the last bank holiday weekend, more than 3,7000 breath tests and 100 drug tests were carried out.
78 people were arrested for driving under the influence of drugs while 110 were arrested for drink driving.
