A local motorcyclist has been killed in a road traffic collision in Co. Cavan.
It happened at around 8 o'clock last night on the R165 at Cornakill between Kingscourt and Bailieboro.
The man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.
There was no other vehicle involved in this collision that occurred between Caffrey's Cross and the Granada. The man's body has now been taken to the morgue at Cavan general hospital where a post mortem will be carried out later today.
The road remains closed while a forensic collision investigation is being carried out. Local diversions via Shercock (R178 & R162) are in place. Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R165 between Kingscourt and Cornakill between the hours of 6:30pm and 8:30pm yesterday evening are being asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
