House price increases in border region more than double the national average

House prices in the border area increased by 13.9% in the year to June.,

House prices along the border have increased at a rate that is more than double the national average.

CSO data of residential property prices to June of this year reveal an annual increase of 13.9% in the border region.

House prices increased nationally by 6.9%.

Meanwhile, median house prices across the Northern Sound region are significantly lower than the median prices.

In the 12 months to June, the median house price nationally was €265,000.

The median house price in the year to June in Co Cavan is €153,000 and €165,000 in Co Monaghan.

Elsewhere, Leitrim and Longford have the joint-lowest median price of €120,000.

This figure is slightly higher in Roscommon, with a median house price of €121,750.
