House prices increase by 14 percent in Cavan over the past 12 months

The cost of buying a house has increased across the Northern Sound region in the past year according to the Daft.ie end-of year report on activity in the housing sector.

The average cost of a house in Cavan has risen by 14 percent leaving the average price for a house in the county at 183,000 euros

In Monaghan the average cost of a house in the county is 208,000 an increase of almost 12 percent since this time last year.

The cost of buying a house nationally rose by 7.7% on average during the year.

The average price of a house in Ireland now stands at 291,000 Euro.

Despite ongoing increases, the cost of buying a house is still 21 per cent below those seen at the peak of the Celtic Tiger years.
