Fine Gael's Presidential Candidate Heather Humphreys says the actions of Hamas should not be justified in any way, shape, or form.
It follows rival candidate Catherine Connolly's comments during a BBC Radio interview yesterday.
Ms Connolly described Hamas as "part of the fabric of the Palestinian people."
