The Cavan and Monaghan Gardaí Division recorded a significant drop in sexual offences and incidents of rape in Quarter 3 of 2022. Sexual offences are down 11 at 19, While incidents of rape reduced by 7 to 19.
Nationally, Theft, kidnapping offences and assault-related crimes all rose by at least a fifth in the year to September compared to last year. Meanwhile, Arson offences went up by 7 percent, and there was a 12 percent increase in the number of homicides.
11 of the 13 crime categories in the CSO data all saw an increase compared to the third quarter of 2021.
