The Justice Minister says Gardaí have not experienced any adverse effects in policing the region since the end of the Brexit transition period. Helen McEntee

The Justice Minister says Gardaí have not experienced any adverse effects in policing the region since the end of the Brexit transition period.

Helen McEntee says the "long established and close working relationship" between Gardaí and the PSNI remains central to policing the border region.

Minister McEntee says since the 31st of December the four border Divisions, including Cavan-Monaghan, have continued to collaborate with the PSNI on cross border investigations.

She says local Gardaí continue to work with Police on a number of levels, including "cross border local arrangements and sharing of information".

The Minister was asked by Fine Gael TD Neale Richmond if co-operation had been impacted by Brexit.

But the Minister said day-to-day policing, as well as the Cross Border Joint Agency Task Force continue to co-operate
