Leitrim playwright Seamus O'Rourke has got behind the fundraising effort for a statue of John Joe O'Reilly.
Widely regarded as Cavan's greatest ever sportsperson, the 'gallant' John Joe captained the county to two All-Ireland titles in a row in the 1940s.
A memorial committee is continuing efforts to place a statue of him in Cavan town, with almost €10,000 being raised in online donations alone.
Seamus O'Rourke is performing his play 'Victor's Dung' in Dublin this week as part of the campaign.
Speaking on The Wider View, he explained how he got involved in the cause.
