Sean Gilliland says interest-free loans between €5,000 and €20,000 would help alleviate any cash-flow issues.

Monaghan County Council has passed a motion calling for interest-free loans to be provided to small businesses to help them re-open over the coming months.

The motion was raised by Fine Gael's Sean Gilliland, who says interest-free loans of between €5,000 to €20,000 should be provided to alleviate any cash-flow issues.

He told today's County Council meeting that many small businesses have honoured staffing contracts and invoices, and deserve assistance in "getting back up and running again".
