A local councillor has highlighted the 'Ready to Build Scheme' and how the roll out of the scheme could be implemented in Co Cavan.
Cllr Aine Smith said at a time when housing is one of the biggest issues in the country, she wanted to ask the county council about the scheme, where you can buy a site from a local authority to build your own home.
The sites are sold in towns and villages at reduced prices of up to €30,000 below the market value. The Fianna Fail Councillor says at a time when people my age or younger are looking to build and having trouble with planning permission surely this would be the perfect solution.
Adding that it will give people the ability to build a house of their own design/suit their own. Cllr Smith says vibrant towns and villages are something that all statutory organisations should be aiming to build and facilitate and this scheme would allow it.
