Local children "highly recommend" nature and biodiversity scheme

The programme, which was delivered by the Tydavnet Group Water Scheme as part of the Collaborative Action for the Natura Network project, allowed the children to be taken on field trips to places like Sliabh Beagh.

Local children who took part in a recent schools' programme exploring the nature and biodiversity of Sliabh Beagh say they hope other pupils can have the same outdoors experience they had.

Nine schools across Monaghan and Tyrone recently launched their "bogtastic" display at the Sliabh Beagh Hotel, showcasing their photography, art, and poems from the project.

Seamus Heaney's poem 'The Tollund Man' was the basis of the programme, that was delivered by the Tydavnet Group Water Scheme as part of the Collaborative Action for the Natura Network project.

Classroom learning was taken out onto the mountain in a series of field trips, where children were introduced to the special plants and animals that make their home on Sliabh Beagh.
