'Eamonn Toal said he had an absolute blast when he represented Ireland in 2000'

'Wild Youth' will take to the stage in Liverpool tonight for the first Eurovision semi-final show. The Dublin-based band are representing Ireland with their song 'We Are One'.

10 of 15 acts in tonight's show will make it through to Saturday's final.

Co Monaghan's Eamonn Toal represented Ireland back in 2000. Speaking on this morning's Joe Finnegan Show, he says he "loves the song" and he hopes Europe likes it too.

He added that from his experience, this will be a gruelling week for all performers. "It's non-stop, when I read Martin Whelan's book, he said his first Eurovision year was the year we did it.

"We were going out to every party, taking over events, we had an absolute blast but there was a reason behind it, because we were seeking out votes. From the minute you wake up you're selling yourself and you're selling the song."
