Local fundraising teams happy to be on the streets again for Daffodil Day

Brian Carroll says the 40-strong team are "carrying on the torch" from long-time fundraisers including Delores Maguire and the late Paddy Gilmour.

A Monaghan man says it's great to be on the streets again as Daffodil Day returns to in-person events for the first time today since 2019.

Brian Carroll is the co-ordinator for the Irish Cancer Society's fundraiser in Ballybay and has a 40-strong team assisting him today.

He says the team are "carrying on the torch" from long-time fundraisers in the area including Delores Maguire and the late Paddy Gilmour.

They'll be at several locations in the town today and Brian hopes to be out collecting up until 8pm this evening.

He say's people are happy to see the team on the streets again and told Northern Sound they'll be trialling contactless payments in Ballybay:
