A local Minister is hopeful the Active Tavel and Climate Change funding announced today will make access easier for people in communities across the region. <

A local Minister is hopeful the Active Tavel and Climate Change funding announced today will make access easier for people in communities across the region.

Over €3million euro has been awarded between Cavan and Monaghan to upgrade roads, footpaths, cycle lanes and bridges.

The funding is part of an overall €155 million package designed to encourage walking and sustainable transport across the country.

The projects include flood mitigation infrastructure for areas within the Cavan Belturbet MD that have been badly impacted by poor weather recently.

Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound Minister Heather Humphreys welcomed the investment and hopes it will improve life for all local communities:
