Sinn Féin councillors in the Carrickmacross-Castleblayney MD have expressed their disappointment at the lack of investment in the Childcare sector in the 2021

Sinn Féin councillors in the Carrickmacross-Castleblayney MD have expressed their disappointment at the lack of investment in the Childcare sector in the 2021 budget.

They are calling on the Goveerment to support the sector immediately by ensuring all staff receives at least the living wage of €12.30 per hour,by subsidising further to ensure it is affordable, and work towards a publicly run and staffed childcare model.

It was unanimously agreed that this was necessary with PJ O’Hanlon stating that a complete over haul was needed.

Councillor Colm Carthy who raised the issue says that some employers are still finding it hard just to breakeven:
