A Co Cavan senior member of An Garda Síochána is appealing to the general public to be alert and cautious during this current hot spell.
Cavan Superintendent, Gavin O'Reilly says when it comes to road safety - caution is needed and motorists need to be more mindful.
Mr O'Reilly says roads are much busier, along with more pedestrians out enjoying the current weather conditions also and sun glare are all risks when taking to the roads over the coming days. The long standing member of the force says more Garda visibility is expected on roads and at local amenities across the region.
Meanwhile, the Co Cavan native also is encouraging people that may be taking to lakes and rivers to be alert and aware.
Currently there are no designated swimming areas in Cavan.
Supt O'Reilly said he's not trying to discourage people from swimming but he just wants them to be aware and safe.
The local superintendent gives this advice when it comes to waterways in the locality.
