There are calls for Cavan Institute to be developed as a "state of the art" hub for further education.
The education campus is currently spread across a number of leased properties in the town, through previous efforts to keep up with demand.
Local TD Niamh Smyth says the investment in local secondary schools must be followed up on with suitable infrastructure at third-level education.

In the Dáil last night the Fianna Fáil Deputy called for the Minister for Further Education to support plans to future-proof local education, which she says is already oversubscribed.
