A local TD is welcoming expansion to the free contraceptive scheme but notes there is still work to be done when it comes to women's health.
Earlier this month, Cathy Bennett welcomed legislation expanding the free contraception scheme to people aged 17 to 35 and allowing pharmacists to prescribe contraceptive medicines.
However, she warned the idea of free contraception is undermined if pharmacies set different consultation fees.

Deputy Bennett also criticised the scheme being limited to women aged 17 to 35, describing it as a failure that forgets about women aged 35 to 50.
Speaking in the Dail earlier this month, she noted that contraception alone is not the answer to women's healthcare.
