Local TD says sick pay rights Bill will be a "challenge for businesses"

By 2025, all employees will be entitled to ten days sick leave a year.

A local TD says a new Bill on sick pay rights will be "difficult" for employers.

Fianna Fáil's Niamh Smyth added that the Bill "is a challenge for businesses".

However, Deputy Smyth says "it will provide conditions that benefit and encourage" those in lower-paid roles.

By 2025, all employees will be entitled to ten days sick leave a year, paid at 70% of their salary.

However, self-employed people will still be responsible for managing their own leave with no subsidy from the state.

Deputy Smyth told this morning's Joe Finnegan Show that the government has to support businesses in implementing the new Bill:
