Funding of €315,490 has been allocated in small grants for community groups across the Northern Sound region.
The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Dara Calleary announced the news under the Local Enhancement Programme this morning.
The aim of the funding is so support projects that are essential for small community groups and organisations.
Under the programme, Cavan County Council will receive €164,351.48, and Monaghan County Council will receive €151,138.64.
Local TD, Brendan Smith as welcomed the news.
According to the Fianna Fáil TD, the funding helps groups to improve their facilities through small-scale funding for a wide range of projects including minor renovations to buildings and the purchase of essential equipment for the maintenance of public areas.
Deputy Smith explained that it also allows groups to purchase items such as IT equipment to enable groups to conduct their business.
