A mastectomy fitter who works with women across Cavan and Monaghan after their cancer diagnosis is encouraging women to "check their breasts."
Alison McCabe has been a mastectomy fitter for over 20 years and is fully trained in looking after ladies after breast cancer by restoring their shape and confidence.
Alison has highlighted the importance of "checking your breasts" adding that the age of her youngest ever client was 19 whilst her eldest client was 97.
While mammograms are free to those over 50, Alison says ideally women should be screened at a much earlier age.
With hopes that this will be changed in the near future, Alison says there's plenty of things that women can do to safeguard their breast health in the meantime.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Alison had this advice on how women can check themselves.
