Minister Humphreys is proud of positive impacts schemes have on rural areas

Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys has published the Department of Rural and Community Development’s Annual Report for 2021.

The report provides a comprehensive overview of the wide range of policies, programmes and initiatives developed and delivered last year.

Included is a spend of more than €344m, €169m of which was invested in the Rural Development Programme, including the LEADER Programme, Town and Village Renewal Scheme, the Local Improvement Scheme, the Outdoor Recreation Scheme and the CLÁR Programme.

Minister Humphreys said that throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, the "critical work" of her department helped to support communities right across the country, and ensure that vital services were delivered to vulnerable groups.

She added how proud she was of the positive impacts the programmes and schemes are having in towns and villages across the Shannonside Northern Sound region.
