Monaghan based Chair of the National Association of Regional Game Councils says the cancellation of the pheasant shooting season was badly handled.

Dan Curley says the news came through with very little notice by WhatsApp only 3 days before the 1st of November when it was due to start.

He thinks the situation was poorly handled by the Gardaí and wants clarity on the issue as the Garda statement stipulates no 'sport shooting' or 'sporting events' should be held, which he says pheasant shooting is not.

Dan says this is hugely disappointing for all of the shooting clubs across the country and would help people get out and stay active during current restrictions.
