A well known and popular Monaghan based Garda has retired after 31 years of service.
In 1992 Garda Margaret Oliphant arrived at Clones Garda Station as the first ever female member of An Garda Siochana to be stationed there.
From then in 1999 she moved to Monaghan Garda Station where she spent the remainder of over 31 years of loyal service to the Force.
Through the years Margaret has been very much to the fore when it came to community with having a very much hands on approach in the wider Monaghan area.
Members of management at the Cavan Monaghan Garda Division say Margaret has demonstrated the best in community policing and has been a shining example for all.
They added that they wanted to wish Margaret and her family the very best in her long and well deserved retirement.
