A Monaghan businesswoman has been named chairperson of a new collaborative partnership in the midlands.
Empower Eco is an economic and environmental stimulus partnership that aims to support job creation and a generation of green-enterprise innovators.
€1.1 million from the Just Transition fund has been allocated to create 97 new jobs, some of which will include ex-Bord na Mona workers.

CEO of Shabra Recycling in Castleblayney Rita Shah is the group's chairperson and says the investment will help "unlock the immense potential" of the region.
She said there is much more to come from the partnership in the future.
