Monaghan Councillor says no winners from Golfgate trial verdict

A number of high profile attendees lost their jobs over the controversy, including then Agriculture Minister Dara Calleary.

A Monaghan Councillor who attended the golfing dinner says there are no winners from the trial.

It's after a court dismissed charges against four people over the Golfgate dinner in August 2020.

A judge found Independent TD Noel Grealish, former Fianna Fáil Senator Donie Cassidy and the two hoteliers were fully compliant with lockdown laws.

Speaking this morning, Independent Councillor Paudge Connolly reiterated that it was poor judgement to attend, but that the hotelier made every effort to ensure Covid regulations were complied with

He told The Joe Finnegan Show that the court case going ahead was the best course of action.
