Monaghan murder victim's family could be first to address the Parole Board

Conor McClelland was sentenced to life in prison.

The heartbroken mother of a young man who was brutally murdered in County Monaghan over 11 years ago has said she wants to look at her sons killer in the eyes and ask him why?

Conor McClelland, from Castleblayney, Co Monaghan, was convicted with Gavin O Connor’s murder.

Gavin was 22 and from Kilmainhamwood, near Kingscourt in Cavan.

Conor McClelland was sentenced to life in prison.

Gavin's parents Gerry and Helena have said they could be the first couple in Ireland to address the Parole Board following a law that was introduced last year.

McClelland is due before the board on April 1st 2023.

Gavin's father told  Northern Sound News about how their lives changed forever when their son who was a musician was killed on that fatal night.
