A south Monaghan Priest has suggested people cancel their TV licences after an RTE sketch portrayed God as a rapist.

A Waterford Whispers News segment from the New Year's Eve show made allegations that God had raped a woman, and impregnated her against her will.

The national broadcaster has since apologised for the clip that Archbishop of Armagh Eamon Martin called "deeply offensive" and blasphemous.

Before the final blessing of his New Year’s Day mass, Carrickmacross Priest Fr Sean Mulligan called on parishioners make their concerns known.
