The Monaghan Volunteer Centre reached a major milestone by marking 20 years of being at the heart of the local community.
Since opening its doors in 2006, 4, 188 new volunteers have registered and 2,329 volunteer placements were made.
Also in that time period, 589 local organisations and groups registered, 1,123 volunteering opportunities were created and promoted and 5,829 garda vetting applications were processed for local organisations.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Sinead Keenan said these figures represent thousands of people who have chosen to give their time to volunteering and the improvement of our local areas.
She told Northern Sound: "We have matched hundreds and hundreds of volunteers with community groups and it has had a massive impact on the volunteers themselves and the communities that they volunteer in."
Sinead praised every volunteer, community group, charity, sports club, committee, partner organisation and supporter who has been part of the journey over the last two decades.
She added that their commitment has made a lasting difference across Co Monaghan:
