A Monaghan woman has been named the new General Secretary of the Department of Education.
Carrickmacross-native Bernie McNally is currently serving as an Assistant Secretary with responsibility for Disability and Youth Division in the Department of Children.
She will take up the position next week, and replaces Seán Ó Foghlú who has completed his ten year term.

Education Minister Norma Foley said Bernie will lead a team to deliver a system that helps young people reach their full potential.
