Monaghan County Council has passed a motion calling for an extension to the
GLAS scheme.

GLAS payments to 36,000 farmers will end on the 31st of December in 2020 and
2021.

The average pay out to Monaghan farmers under the scheme is between three
and four thousand euro.

Fianna Fáil's Seamus Coyle says the GLAS scheme is a vital source of income
to farmers, especially given the impact of covid-19 on the industry.

The Fianna Fáil Councillor told Shannonside Northern Sound that a two year
extension is essential given the delay in the next CAP Programme:
