A number of fixed penalty notices were issued to motorists speeding in the Carrickmacross area.
Members of the Monaghan Roads Policing Unit set up speed checkpoints yesterday on regional roads around the Carrickmacross district.
Gardai detected numerous offences, of speeding, one of which was a vehicle travelling 117km/hr in a 60km/hr zone.
According to Gardai, this particular driver was arrested and a charge is now before the courts.
All detections made during yesterday's operation were in 60km/hr zones.
Monaghan Roads Policing Unit is encouraging motorists to "slow down" to ensure that you "arrive alive" at your destination.
