Fine Gael's Niamh Brady has been elected chair of the Cavan-Belturbet Municipal District.
The first time councillor was elected one year ago when she put her name forward to replace her mother on the council.
Madeleine Argue had been a councillor for 25 years and a previous Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council in 2018. Cllr Brady will now serve as chair of the local MD over the next 12 months.
Fianna Fáil Cllr Patricia Walsh, was elected Leas Cathaoirleach of the MD.
