Brendan was returning home when he was involved in the fatal accident in Clontibret.

The Monaghan U20 Gaelic football captain Brendan Og Duffy has been described as an "outstanding player".

The 19 year old died in in a road crash in Clontibret on Friday night.

It happened hours after he captained his side to victory in an Ulster championship semi-final against Donegal.

The chairperson of Monaghan County Council, Aidan Campbell, says there is no words to describe this unfortunate tragedy.

His funeral mass will take place on Wednesday morning in St. Macartan’s Cathedral Monaghan at eleven o’clock, followed by burial in St. Joseph’s Old Cemetrry, Latlurcan. https://www.northernsound.ie/death-notices/ogie-odufaigh-178459
