A number of items stolen from Northern Ireland were found in a car travelling through the Belturbet area earlier this week.
Shortly after 3am on Tuesday morning Gardai stopped a car in the Kilconny area and various items were recovered that had been stolen over the border.
A man and woman, both in their 20's, were arrested and taken to Cavan Garda Station where they were detained for questioning.
They were charged with theft related offences and brought before the District Court where the man was remanded in custody
The woman was granted bail to appear again in Court at a later date.
Gardaí are reminding people in the run up to Christmas to be vigilant for opportunist criminals and to never leave valuables or Christmas presents visible in parked cars.
