In Cavan, 136 electric vehicle grants were awarded up to early October this year, an increase from 85 in 2024.
In Monaghan, 118 grants were issued so far in 2025, also up from 63 the previous year.
That's according to figures provided by the Minister for Transport in response to parliamentary questions from Deputy Pa Daly.
Cavan's highest grant year was 2023, with 151 awarded, while Monaghan stood at at 84 in the same period.
In 2022, the number stood at 102 in Cavan with 48 in Monaghan, while in 2021 Cavan had 114 and Monaghan had 68.
In his response the minister noted that figures only cover from 2021 to 2025, as previously the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications (now Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment held responsibility for EV charging grants in 2020.
The national total for 2025 to date stands at 15,662 electric vehicle grants.
The average value of a private electric vehicle purchased this year is €46,818.
The Minister noted over €100 million in funding has been allocated nationally for EV grants and infrastructure in 2025.
