A local Labour rep says the need to clear driving test backlogs is greater in rural regions.

Over 2,000 people across the Northern Sound region are awaiting a driving test.

Nationwide, over 96,000 people are on a waiting list and a person applying for a test today is likely to be on a list for around 25 weeks.

Locally, Cavan has the greatest number of people on a waiting list, at 1,468.
