Over €33m announced for roads across Cavan and Monaghan

Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan and Minister of State Jack Chambers announced details of a €626 million investment programme for this year for regional and local roads across the country.

Over €33 Million has been announced for roads across Cavan and Monaghan.

The announcement sees €17.5 Million for Cavan County Council and €16.2 Million for Monaghan County Council under the Non National Roads Network Programme for 2023.

Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan and Minister of State Jack Chambers announced details of a €626 million investment programme for this year for regional and local roads across the country. This represents an increase in funding of €20m for road pavement and rehabilitation works. The funding package will allow approximately 3,100kms of regional and local roads to be maintained and 2,550kms to be strengthened. Cavan Monaghan Fianna Fail TD, Deputy Niamh Smith says there are challenges for both local authorities when it comes to delivery of the Roads Programme.

Deputy Smith says the funding allocation will help with the delivery. Regional and local roads in Cavan and Monaghan are set to be improved as a result of a much-needed funding boost, a Fine Gael Minister has said. Minister for Social Protection and Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys TD outlined that funding of €17,510,350 which has been allocated to Cavan County Council and €16.2 Million for Monaghan County Council to invest in the maintenance and strengthening of local routes.

“A total of €626 million will be invested in local regional and local roads around the country this year. This represents an increase in funding of €20m for road pavement and rehabilitation works. The funding package will allow approximately 3,100kms of regional and local roads to be maintained and 2,550kms to be strengthened,” Minister Humphreys said.
