Part 8 planning has been granted for a project which will see the demolition of some parts of the Lennard Arms Hotel in Clones to make way for a heritage centre and exhibition space.

The Lennard Arms Hotel is a protected structure and while the 20th century extensions and alterations will be demolished, repair work will be carried out on the roof, internal linings, walls and ironwork balconies.

The works will also involve the conversion of existing stores along Annalore Street into an exhibition space and reception area.

Sinn Féin Councillor Pat Treanor said the development shows an interest in the area and he told Shannonside Northern Sound that it will add to the heritage of Clones:
