The company says they are aiming to 'future proof' the area.

Cignal Infrastructure is seeking permission to construct a 30-meter high telecommunications structure in Bailieborough, Co Cavan.

The proposed structure, at Gartnaneane, Bailieborough, would carry dishes and antennae and be enclosed within 2.4 metre high palisade fencing.

Associated site works would include a new access track.

The planning application says the works will "future proof the site" and lead to "great competition and better options for people in the area".

It adds that the works are "necessary to enable high-quality data services".

A decision is due on the 8th of January.
