A number of other areas across Monaghan and Cavan are also set to benefit from the scheme.

The Vacancy and dereliction "Phase 2" of the Clones renewal scheme is almost complete.

Cavan and Monaghan previously received almost a total of €2 million euro in funding under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme in conjunction with ‘Our Rural Future’.

It was introduced by local Minister Heather Humphreys to support projects that tackle vacancy and dereliction by bringing landmark town centre buildings back to life.

Co Monaghan was in receipt of just over €750,000 with Drum, Rockcorry, Inniskeen, Threemilehouse, and Monaghan Town also set to benefit.

In Clones specifically, the scheme has seen 11 derelict properties turned into eight new properties comprising 22 apartments and two town houses.
