Eir has been refused planning permission for a development that would have seen the construction of a nearly 20 metre tall mobile mast in Cavan.

Eir has been refused planning permission for a development that would have seen the construction of a nearly 20 metre tall mobile mast in Cavan.

Eir had applied for permission to construct a 19.5 metre "multi-operator telecommunications infrastructure" on Railway Road in Killeshandra, following the refusal of a similar application June of this year for a 21.5 metre structure.

It would have included antennas and dishes, together with ground level equipment cabinets.

However, Cavan County Council said the development would have an "adverse impact on the visual and residential amenities of the area".

It added that granting permission for the project "would set an undesirable precedent" which "would be contrary to the "Cavan County Development Plan".
