Power restored to over 2,000 local homes after strong winds cause outages

'262 households in Errigal were without power until around midnight'

Over 2,000 houses were without electricity for a time last night across the Cavan Monaghan region. Some parts of Castleblayney were without power for a few hours.

Electricity was subsequently restored to the 866 customers affected by the Castleblayney outage. Meanwhile in Errigal near Cootehill, 262 households were without power until around midnight following an outage that occurred at around 9.30pm.

852 households also lost power in the Mullagh area of Cavan last night as an outage occurred between 10:30pm and 2:30am. It was restored within the estimated time frame.

A status yellow wind warning was in place from Met Eireann throughout the night until 2am. There were also reports of debris on local roads throughout the region and a tree fell on the Oram Milltown Road in Monaghan.
